6 th International Symposium on Alkaline Phosphatases and Hypophosphatasia

From bench to bedside

Huningue, France

May 16-19, 2012

Hypophosphatasia Europe is proud to announce that it will organize and sponsor the Sixth International Symposium on alkaline phosphatases (APs) and hypophosphatasia (HPP). This will be the second time that basic researchers, physicians and advocacy group members gather in Huningue, France, to discuss the latest information pertaining to the function of APs and therapies being developed for the management of AP-associated disorders.

The previous symposium in 2007 witnessed the announcement of the first successful pre-clinical trials of enzyme replacement therapy for HPP in mice. Since then, clinical trials of life-threatening HPP have been completed with remarkable results and phase II/III clinical trials on HPP patients with adult disease have been initiated.

This upcoming Symposium will highlight the wealth of clinical data that has been obtained on the management of HPP patients, while also discussing new information about other pathophysiological conditions related to alterations in AP structure and function.

We look forwards to welcoming you in Huningue in 2012 for four days of intense scientific and personal interactions while enjoying the hospitality of the dedicated volunteers of Hypophosphatasia Europe, a public not-for-profit organization that aims to gather and disseminate information on APs to help patients with HPP and their families.

Organizing committee :

José Luis Millán (La Jolla, California, USA) - President of the Organizing Committee
Steve Ursprung (Huningue, France) - President of Hypophosphatasie Europe
Agnès Bloch-Zupan (Strasbourg, France)
Etienne Mornet (Versailles, France)

Location :

The conference will take place in Huningue, a small town close to Mulhouse and Strasbourg in Alsace (east of France). The Basel International Airport (Switzerland-France) is 4 kms away from the meeting place. Huningue is the registered office of the foundation Hypophosphatasie Europe and there are very beautiful places around, especially typical villages famous for their great architecture and wine.

The conference sessions will take place at the cultural center known as Le Triangle, 3, rue de Saint-Louis -68333 Huningue Cedex. The auditorium has a capacity of 152 persons, with adequate sound and video projection equipment.

A hall in front of the room is large enough to accommodate all posters that will be set up and displayed during the entire conference. A large room upstairs will be used for luncheons and coffee breaks. The hotels are not far away and a minibus service will bring participants to and from the hotels at established times.

Tentative program:

Attendees are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts for presentation at the meeting. The organizers will choose a certain number of abstracts for oral presentation, but a strong emphasis will be afforded to poster presentations.

The topics to be covered by this symposium include:
